Committee life can be both incredibly rewarding and deeply challenging, balancing vision, community expectations, and the time and energy it takes to lead. With that in mind, we want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank Phil Reilly, who has made the difficult decision to step down as President of SLM, effective immediately.
Phil has led SLM through one of the most challenging periods in recent memory, guiding us with strength and compassion through times when our wider community faced internal strain. His leadership and commitment to fostering connection and visibility, especially across the cross section of the arts and leather communities, have left a lasting mark.
We fully respect Phil’s decision to focus on his professional commitments and wellbeing, and we extend our deepest thanks for his contribution and service. We look forward to seeing Phil continue to be part of the community he’s done so much to support.
Following Phil’s resignation, the committee has endorsed Igor ‘Coach’ Rudar (Sydney Mr Leather 2023) to step into the role of President until the next AGM in H1 of 2026. As a co-founder of SLM, he remains passionate about our growth, sustainability, and the strength of our community and continiung to build a united and connected community.
This transition also sees Mick Watson, our Treasurer and innugral President, take on the additional role of Vice President. Mick’s experience and dedication will be invaluable as we continue to refine and spread workloads, strengthen our operations, and keep SLM moving forward together.
So finally, Thanks again to Phil and congratulations to Coach.
