CONFLICT RESOLUTION POLICY

SLM Inc., we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members and attendees. Our Conflict Resolution Policy outlines our approach and expectations of members and event attendee’s in handling conflicts and ensures that everyone can enjoy our events and activities without disruption or concerns of physical harm.

Key Principles:

  • Respect and Tolerance: We expect all members and attendees to treat each other with respect and tolerance, regardless of differences in opinion, background, or identity.
  • Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment: Bullying, harassment, spreading rumours, or gossiping about other members or attendees will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
  • Non-Violence: Any form of physical threats, intimidation, or violence towards another member or attendee is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate removal of membership or expulsion from events.

Conflict Resolution Process:

  • Stay Calm and Respectful: In the event of a conflict, all parties involved are expected to remain calm and composed. Emotions should be managed, and communication should be conducted in a respectful and controlled manner without disruption to fellow guests and attendees.
  • Practice Active Listening: Each party should have the opportunity to express their perspective without interruption or judgement. Active listening is essential to understanding each other’s viewpoints and finding common ground.
  • Open Dialogue: Engage in open and honest dialogue, focusing on finding solutions rather than assigning blame. Encourage constructive communication and problem-solving.
  • Mediation: If necessary, mediation by a neutral third party may be arranged to facilitate communication and resolution between conflicting parties.
  • Follow-Up: After the conflict has been resolved, follow-up communication may be necessary to ensure that any agreements or resolutions are upheld and that all parties feel satisfied with the outcome.

Reporting and Enforcement:

  • Any member or attendee who experiences or witnesses a conflict that violates this policy is encouraged to report it to SLM Inc. Committee members and provide an account of the incident by email to committee@sydneyleathermen.com. Reports will be investigated confidentially, and appropriate action will be taken to address the situation if required.

Conclusion:

  • By upholding these principles and following the conflict resolution process outlined in this policy, we can create a supportive and inclusive community where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
